Headache types and causes:
Migraine
The brain itself cannot feel pain because it has no nerves. However, the nerves and muscles connected to the neck, face, skull, and face can all cause pain.
tension headache
It's caused by the contraction of the muscles covering the skull. When put under pressure, they become inflamed and then go into spasm, causing pain. The areas are temples, neck, forehead and chin. This includes sitting at a desk or computer for long periods of time, or doing manual labor. Emotional stress can also be a cause.
cluster headache
Frequent awakening from sleep. Related to a sudden release of chemicals in the brain, histamine and serotonin. The hypothalamus is the source of the problem. It is responsible for the body's biological clock and is located at the base of the brain.
secondary headache
are head and neck injuries, problems with the meninges, the layer of tissue surrounding the brain, or blood vessels in the head and neck
Most headache types respond positively to upper cervical chiropractic care.
The upper cervical chiropractic approach is gentle and we encourage the bones to naturally fall back into place rather than popping the neck or splitting the spine to achieve results. Once the misalignment is corrected, patients usually see an improvement or end to their headaches.
